Synopsis: Funding plays an important role in birthing new churches and developing a church planting movement. The purpose of financial support is to assist in the creation of vital new churches that dynamically express and share God’s love. The challenge is to apply resources to the right places at the right time and understand funding as part of a larger system. Addressing financial stewardship and planning for new churches, this webinar will focus on past and current funding practices and share new ideas being developed by new church starts and church planting movements.

Presenter: Rev. Dr. Mark L. Vincent, CEO of Design Group International, is an expert on the intersections of faith and money, organizational leadership, and organizational development. Mark Vincent has been a keynote speaker at Annual Conference stewardship events. He is an author and editor of numerous books and articles and an inspiring speaker known for his custom-crafted material for specific venues.

Preparation: Watch Mark’s 2010 stewardship webinars, “Oh-My” to “A-Men” sponsored by Congregational Life Ministries. We recommend you review these three previous hour-long webinars, available right here in Bethany's Webcast Vault, prior to participating in this event (look for recordings from June, July, and August 2010).

For More Information: Stan Dueck, Director Transforming Practices, Church of the Brethren: sdueck@brethren.org; 717-335-3226.

Nick Miller Kauffman
Master of Arts

NickAfter four years at Manchester College, I found my thirst for knowledge was far from quenched. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in peace studies, but I didn't want to push on into the social sciences. With Bethany's master's degree in theology with a peace studies emphasis, I saw an opportunity to continue studying the peace and justice issues that so impassion me from the humanities perspective, and that I found so enlivening in my final year of college. Here I can study, learn, and prepare for whatever comes next. I am on first-name terms with a faculty that is committed to me--something that would be hard to find at a larger school. And I can see already that the same issues that excite me are exciting to my professors.
