Prodigal Christianity Workshop Scheduled
On Tuesday, October 22, Bethany will host Dr. David Fitch during his speaking tour on “Leadership for a Prodigal Christianity." Held from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in Nicarry Chapel, this workshop will focus on mission in a post-Christendom context, including ways that Anabaptist thought and practice are poised for our time.
The workshop is free and open to the public. Continuing education credits are available. See the flyer for details.
Fitch is B. R. Lindner Chair of Evangelical Theology at Northern Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. He is also the founding pastor of Life on the Vine Christian Community, a missional church in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. He coaches a network of church plants in the C&MA linked to Life on the Vine. He writes on the issues the local church must face in mission, including cultural engagement, leadership, and theology, and has lectured and presented on these topics at many seminaries, graduate schools, denominational gatherings, and conferences.
Fitch has authored numerous articles in periodicals such as Christianity Today, The Other Journal, and Missiology as well as various academic journals. His books include The Great Giveaway: Reclaiming the Mission of the Church from American Business, Para-Church Organizations, Psychotherapy, Consumer Capitalism and Other Modern Maladies; The End of Evangelicalism?; Discerning a New Faithfulness for Mission; and most recently Prodigal Christianity: 10 Signposts into the Missional Frontier with coauthor Geoff Holsclaw.
