President Ruthann K. Johansen of Bethany Seminary has announced the hiring of Shaye M. Isaacs as the executive assistant to the president. She began her duties on August 23, 2011.

A resident of Richmond, Indiana, Isaacs has worked with Wernle Youth & Family Treatment Center in Richmond since 2006, most recently as director of development. Her roles and responsibilities at Wernle included management, fund-raising, donor relations, public relations, agency referral and placement, and administrative support. She is also the former president of Signs Express in Richmond.

Johansen said, "I am pleased to welcome Shaye Isaacs to the position of executive assistant to the president. To this position central to Bethany Seminary, Shaye brings strong administrative abilities and experience. With her additional creative interests in writing, design, and extending compassionate service to institutional colleagues and constituents, Shaye will contribute significantly to the Bethany community."

MonicaWhen my vocational calling led me to consider a seminary education, I visited Bethany out of a sense of Brethren obligation. Growing up in a Brethren family and congregation, attending a Brethren college, and then participating in several years of Brethren Volunteer Service, I felt a strong commitment to Brethren institutions. However, I felt ready to experience a different faith community for graduate study. I made plans to attend an urban Chicago seminary, but chose to visit Bethany to know that I had considered it as an option.
