Online Application Checklist for International Students

After you have submitted your International Student application form, there are several more details to take care of. (You may wish to print this page!)

First, please print these forms for completion.

NOTE: Recommendations and Transcripts must be mailed directly to Bethany Admissions by the person or institution completing them:

Have these forms and transcripts mailed to:
Admissions
Bethany Theological Seminary
615 National Road West
Richmond, IN 47374

Further Steps:

[_] You may pay your application fee now.

(Alternatively, you may mail your check for $50.00 to the address below, made out to Bethany Theological Seminary.)

[_] TEOFL must be taken with the score sent directly to Bethany. Our school code is 1061. We require a score of 218 for the computerized test. If English is the primary language of instruction for your country, you may request to have the TEOFL requirement waived.

[_] Submit an essay on your personal and professional goals in seeking theological education:

Please prepare a formal essay (2 to 3 typed, double spaced, pages), which will help Bethany get to know you. Please be sure to address each of the following:

  1. How your personal and professional goals relate to your faith perspective;
  2. Your understandings of the church;
  3. Your sense of calling or vocation; and
  4. How you believe a seminary education at Bethany can help you fulfill your goals.

    You may submit your formatted essay via email as an attached MS-Word (.doc), Wordperfect (wpd), Open Office (.odt), or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) file to Amy Gall Ritchie, at ritcham@bethanyseminary.edu; or you may mail it to the address above.

Final Steps for the Admissions Process:

Once all of the materials are in, the Admissions Committee will meet to make their determination. You will be notified by letter. Please refer to the chart on the Apply Now page for deadlines to have all application materials in.

I-20 Form for Visa Application:

Once admission is determined, we will begin to work on the SEVIS I-20 form. It is the responsibility of the international student to secure an appointment with the United States Embassy in their country, and to pay the SEVIS fee as required. Prior to the issuance of the I-20 form, we must have:

  • Financial sponsor form, signed and notarized
  • Documentation from sponsor (i.e. tax forms, bank statements)
  • $1500 deposit, to be kept on account for emergency air fare

Be in contact with Amy Gall Ritchie, Director of Student Development, with any questions regarding the application process. We are excited to walk with you through the many details, offering support and clarity when needed.
