A Sample Part-Time Connections Course Schedule

The following sample schedule includes a mix of hybrid, online, and on-campus intensive courses, and involves teaching by each faculty member at Bethany. A hybrid course, half online and half face-to-face, counts as 0.5 main campus courses toward the residency requirement and for the purposes of determining financial aid.

This suggested schedule projects a total of 25-30 trips to Bethany's Richmond campus over six years, mostly for just a Friday-Saturday intensive. In addition, a two-week trip, often internationally, is normally required to meet the requirement of a cross-cultural course. However, Connections is flexible enough for students to take a faster or slower pace and to choose different courses that fit their interests. Individual academic advising is essential for students in either track of the M.Div. program, since some courses are required and some are prerequisites for other courses. An asterisk (*) indicates that the course is a prerequesite for another course in the suggested schedule.

In addition to the courses listed below, Bethany offers intensive courses in January, May-June, and August, and several weekend intensives each semester. Weekend intensives are located both in Richmond and at the Susquehanna Valley Ministry Center in Pennsylvania. Students who can take advantage of those courses will have additional flexibility in their programs.

This schedule is just an example. Courses are subject to change, and a schedule such as this will typically be modified by each individual student to fit their own needs, pace, interests, and calling.
